[00:00:01] Welcome to NSDR, the Non-Sleep Deep Rest Podcast. Today, we will explore a unique path to deep relaxation using a blend of visualization and body awareness. This practice, known as Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep, will help you reach a state of profound relaxation and rejuvenation while remaining awake.
[00:00:25] Begin by finding a serene and quiet spot where you can unwind without disturbances. This might be a cozy chair, a yoga mat, or your bed. Ensure your body is in a comfortable position, lying down or reclining. You can place a cushion under your knees to support your lower back, and a small pillow under your head for neck alignment.
[00:00:51] Ensure you are warm and ready to let go of external distractions. The goal is to relax deeply without falling asleep. Close your eyes softly. Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose.
[00:01:12] Then, exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this a few times, each breath bringing you deeper into relaxation.
[00:01:42] Feel the breath entering your body, bringing in calmness and clarity. Exhale any tension or stress, releasing it from your body. Imagine yourself in a peaceful, serene place. It could be a quiet beach with gentle waves, a tranquil forest with rustling leaves, or a serene mountaintop.
[00:02:09] Visualize this place vividly, noticing the details. The sounds, the scents, the colors. Allow the peacefulness of this sanctuary to envelop you. With each breath, feel more connected to this place, letting it guide you into deeper relaxation. Now, let's move through the body, bringing awareness to each part.
[00:02:38] As I guide you, imagine a warm, soothing light flowing through each area, releasing tension and promoting relaxation. Start with your toes. Feel the warm light gently touching your toes, spreading to your feet and relaxing them completely.
[00:03:00] Move this light up to your ankles, calves, and knees. Feel your lower legs becoming heavy and relaxed. Continue to your thighs and hips.
[00:03:35] Allow the light to ease any tension, bringing a sense of deep relaxation to your entire lower body. Next, bring the light to your lower back and abdomen. Feel your core relaxing, releasing any tightness.
[00:04:03] Move to your chest and upper back. With each breath, allow the light to expand. Relaxing your chest and shoulders. Now, bring your attention to your hands.
[00:04:29] Feel the light moving through your fingers, hands, and wrists, relaxing them completely. Continue up your arms to your elbows and upper arms. Let that light flow, releasing any remaining tension.
[00:04:58] Finally, bring the light to your neck and head. Relax your jaw. Soften your eyes. And let your forehead become smooth.
[00:05:25] Feel the light enveloping your entire head, bringing a deep sense of calm. Now, with your body fully relaxed, focus on your breath. Imagine each inhale bringing in peace and each exhale releasing any residual stress. Imagine a warm golden light at the base of your spine.
[00:05:54] With each inhale, see this light growing brighter and moving up your spine, reaching each energy center.
[00:06:05] Visualize this light moving to your sacral area, your solar plexus, your heart, your throat, your third eye, and finally to the crown of your head.
[00:06:42] Feel the light expanding, connecting you to the universe and bringing a sense of unity and harmony. Gradually, bring your awareness back to the present moment. Notice the sensations in your body, the sounds around you, and the feeling of the surface beneath you.
[00:07:11] Gently wiggle your fingers and toes. When you're ready, roll onto your right side in a fetal position, taking a moment to rest. Slowly come up to a seated position.
[00:07:31] Open your eyes when you feel ready. And take a moment to reflect on this journey and the relaxation you've achieved. Thank you for joining this journey into non-sleep, deep rest.
[00:08:01] You can revisit the NSDR podcast anytime you need a pause or reset. I look forward to guiding you again, helping you find tranquility, relaxation, and rejuvenation whenever you need it.
