[00:00:01] Welcome to NSDR, the Non-Sleep Deep Rest Podcast. In today's session, we will guide you through a unique blend of guided breathing exercises and a visualization journey to help you achieve deep relaxation and rejuvenation while remaining fully awake. Find a quiet, comfortable place where you can relax without interruptions. This could be a soft mat, a cozy chair, or your bed.
[00:00:29] Ensure your body is well supported whether lying down or reclining. You might place a cushion under your knees for lower back support and a small pillow under your head for neck alignment. Ensure you are warm and ready to disconnect from external distractions.
[00:00:45] The aim here is to achieve deep relaxation without falling asleep. Close your eyes gently, and begin by taking a slow, deep breath in through your nose, then exhale slowly through your mouth.
[00:01:06] Repeat this process a few times, each breath guiding you deeper into relaxation. Feel the breath entering your body, bringing calmness and clarity. And as you exhale, release any tension or stress, letting it flow out of your body. Now let's focus on a guided breathing exercise to enhance relaxation.
[00:01:36] Inhale slowly through your nose to a count of four. Hold the breath for a count of four. Exhale slowly through your mouth to a count of four. Pause and hold for a count of four.
[00:01:58] Repeat this cycle a few times, allowing each breath to bring you deeper into a state of calm and relaxation.
[00:02:08] Next, we will move through a progressive body relaxation exercise.
[00:02:49] As I guide you, bring your attention to each part of your body, imagining it softening and relaxing. Start with your feet. Feel your toes, arches, and heels. Imagine them becoming heavy and relaxed. Move your focus to your ankles and calves.
[00:03:12] Feel the muscles here softening and releasing tension. Continue to your knees and thighs. Let these large muscles relax completely, feeling your legs sink deeper into relaxation. Bring your focus to your hips and pelvis.
[00:03:37] Allow these areas to soften and release any tightness. Move to your lower back and abdomen. Feel your core muscles relaxing, letting go of any tension. Next, bring your attention to your chest and upper back. With each breath, let these areas expand and relax.
[00:04:11] Now move to your shoulders. Feel them dropping away from your ears, releasing any built-up tension. Bring your focus down your arms, through your elbows, wrists, and into your hands.
[00:04:32] Feel your fingers relax, releasing any remaining stress. Bring your awareness to your neck and head. Relax your jaw. Soften your eyes. And let your forehead smooth out.
[00:05:03] Feel your entire head becoming light and relaxed. Imagine yourself walking through a serene forest. The trees are tall and majestic, their leaves creating a gentle canopy overhead. The forest floor is soft beneath your feet, covered with moss and fallen leaves.
[00:05:31] As you walk, you come across a peaceful clearing, with a comfortable spot to sit and rest. The air is fresh and filled with the earthy scent of the forest. Sit down in this tranquil spot, feeling the connection to the natural world around you.
[00:05:55] Notice the details of the forest. The rustling leaves, the distant sound of a flowing stream, and the birds singing in the trees. Allow these soothing sounds to deepen your relaxation. With your body fully relaxed and your mind calm, return your focus to your breath.
[00:06:21] Imagine each inhale bringing in fresh, calming energy. And each exhale releasing any residual tension. Gradually bring your awareness back to the present moment. Notice the sensations in your body, the sounds around you, and the surface supporting you.
[00:06:52] Gently wiggle your fingers and toes. When you're ready, roll onto your right side in a fetal position, taking a moment here to rest. Slowly come up to a seated position. And open your eyes when you feel ready.
[00:07:26] Take a moment to reflect on this journey, and the relaxation you've achieved. Thank you for joining this journey into non-sleep, deep rest. You can revisit the NSDR podcast anytime you need a pause or reset. I look forward to guiding you again, helping you find tranquility, relaxation, and rejuvenation whenever you need it. Thank you.
