[00:01:37] We're always here to get to the bottom of what it means to be in healthy relationships with others and ourselves.

[00:01:47] 10 Truths To Help You Live Like You Love Yourself by Krista O'Reilly Davideghi of AlifeInProgress.ca
[00:02:00] One day, shortly after the birth of my third child, I made the decision to love myself.
[00:02:06] I was done trying to mold my body or beautiful quirky self into a tiny ill-fitting box.
[00:02:13] I've been showing up and practicing this decision every single day for the past 12 years.
[00:02:18] Living like we love ourselves, speaking to ourselves with kindness, laying down judgment,
[00:02:24] nourishing ourselves like we deserve good things, none of this happens without deliberate conscious choice.
[00:02:31] We walk it out day by day. We struggle. We hide. We step out with courage once again.
[00:02:38] You wear your tattoos and I wear my scars and we're not so different after all with all our jagged edges.
[00:02:45] You write me and share pieces of your story. You are knitters and tenders of chooks and children.
[00:02:51] You are successful by the world's standards, yet still you ache.
[00:02:55] You are male and female, tired of living like you are too broken.
[00:02:59] You are teachers, psychologists, and health practitioners.
[00:03:03] You are homeschooling mamas, students just starting out, military retirees, a diverse crowd, but not so different at the core.
[00:03:12] In some area of life, you are still learning to live like you love yourself.
[00:03:17] You are doing the messy inner work to let go of what no longer serves, untangled truth from fiction.
[00:03:24] Grow up. We are all on the journey together and I'm so grateful I get to walk this out with you.
[00:03:30] I want to tell you something that I believe to be true and which you may need to hear.
[00:03:35] This work is hard and uncomfortable and sometimes you'll want to quit.
[00:03:41] You'll wonder why it feels worse in the middle than it did at the start.
[00:03:45] You may feel so filled with anger that life has been unkind.
[00:03:49] You may fall off course and feel like a failure, despair that you'll never get through,
[00:03:54] wish you didn't have to work so hard to show up and do life each day, but it's all worth it.
[00:04:00] You are worth it.
[00:04:02] 10 Truths to Help You Live Like You Love Yourself
[00:04:05] Number one, life is messy and beautiful.
[00:04:09] Life is imperfect, painful, interesting, delightful, scary, exciting, messy and beautiful.
[00:04:18] All at once. The fact that life is messy is not a reflection of your worth or ability.
[00:04:24] And when you're in a messy part, you need to remember that this is only part of your story,
[00:04:30] not the fullness of it.
[00:04:32] Number two, you're not wrong for where you're at on the journey.
[00:04:37] Just don't quit.
[00:04:39] Number three, you are the expert of your own body.
[00:04:43] Ask for help and acquire new skills and tools, but don't abdicate power or responsibility for your well-being.
[00:04:50] Advocate for yourself like you deserve it.
[00:04:53] Stop looking for a magic pill.
[00:04:55] Practice listening in because we often already know what we need, but we just don't want to do it.
[00:05:01] Number four, acceptance is an inside job.
[00:05:05] The truth is, it's not actually my job to like you. It's yours.
[00:05:10] Number five, you get to be the boss of your own thoughts.
[00:05:14] Challenge fear with truth.
[00:05:17] Don't believe every story that enters your mind.
[00:05:20] Learning to take control of your thoughts is one of the greatest gifts you can offer yourself.
[00:05:25] Number six, you are not too broken.
[00:05:28] You have cracks and jagged edges like most of us, but that is not the fullness of who you are.
[00:05:34] You drip beauty through your imperfection, and even nobodies have gifts to offer the world.
[00:05:40] Number seven, you don't have to see the whole path to take the first or next step.
[00:05:46] We forge our path as we step out and do the hard work of showing up with consistency.
[00:05:52] Learning to trust the journey is part of the process.
[00:05:55] Number eight, growing up is hard to do.
[00:05:59] Whether we are 16 or 46, we are all still in the messy process of growing up, and it feels hard sometimes.
[00:06:07] That's okay. You will be okay.
[00:06:10] Sometimes deep wounds must be opened up so they can be cleaned out once and for all.
[00:06:15] And a little PS, I think if we can bring humor into the process, this lightens the load.
[00:06:22] Number nine, perfection is not required.
[00:06:26] No matter what your mean inner critic tells you or all the ways you are judged by others, you are enough.
[00:06:33] Our identity is not determined by our performance or productivity.
[00:06:37] We do not have to pay rent for the space we take up in the world.
[00:06:41] Number 10, your words matter.
[00:06:44] Use your voice.
[00:06:46] Speak life over yourself like you're your own best friend.
[00:06:49] Use words that help build the world you want to live in, starting with yourself.
[00:06:54] Don't play the victim and cut yourself some slack.
[00:06:57] Both will help you get through, and if necessary, you can't fake it until you make it.
[00:07:02] I am so privileged to get to peer into the lives and hearts of the amazing people I work with
[00:07:08] and the interesting people who read my words and respond.
[00:07:11] I get to see the raw truth.
[00:07:13] You are not alone on this journey, and you are not the only one who struggles.
[00:07:18] Decide to live like you love yourself.
[00:07:25] You just listened to the post titled, 10 truths to help you live like you love yourself

[00:08:57] And a great reminder today from Krista, a really refreshing post about life's imperfections
[00:09:03] and the value of keeping them in perspective as being parts of the journey
[00:09:08] rather than obsessing over getting rid of them.
[00:09:10] So I think an article like this begs the question,
[00:09:13] what are you not currently allowing of yourself?
[00:09:17] Right?
[00:09:18] What parts of your life have you deemed unacceptable
[00:09:20] and are you not cooperating with?
[00:09:23] How can you get closer to the truth of these situations,
[00:09:26] which is likely that they're fleeting and not compromising your value as a person
[00:09:30] or the value of your life?
[00:09:32] Take this episode today as a reminder that making mistakes happens.
[00:09:36] Embarrassing yourself happens.
[00:09:38] Feeling ashamed happens.
[00:09:40] Feeling behind happens.
[00:09:42] Right? None of these feelings are abnormal,
[00:09:44] but they do seem more villainous the less we allow them.
[00:09:47] And that's all I've got to say about that.
[00:09:49] Get to yourself questioning, friends.
[00:09:51] It's time to wrap this episode up.
[00:09:53] I hope you enjoyed it.
[00:09:54] I hope you will share it with someone who may need it.
[00:09:56] And of course, I hope you'll join me again tomorrow for more content.
[00:09:59] That's where your optimal life awaits.
