[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: It provides you with a platform to build strong relationships with your audience and

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: your current customers, relationships that can be very valuable.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Picture a virtual snowball, what I like to call the social snowball.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You start a business, have a website up and running, your hub or home base, and

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: you're ready to start getting the word out.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You start a Facebook page and you tell five of your friends about it.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: They're supportive and love what you're doing and so they go to your

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Facebook page and they like it.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Those five friends you told about your page have an average of 150 Facebook

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: friends each.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That's 150 times 5 equals 750 friends.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's say 5% of those 750 friends notice in their news feed that their

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: friend liked your page and it's now being recommended by Facebook that they

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: like it too and they do.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So hypothetically, just by telling five of your friends about your Facebook

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: page, you have about 40 likes.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: See how fast word travels on social media and why it's important for you to

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: get out there already?

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: This example is just related to building your audience and getting page

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: likes but it also holds true for people referring their friends and

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_01]: colleagues to you for any number of things, products, services, etc.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Now that you know it's important to get your social media presence rocking and

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: rolling, let's take a look at how you can do this from the ground level up.

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: From building your audience to connecting with and nurturing your

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: audience.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's break down each of these steps.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Step one, start building or enhancing your audience.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: One, if you haven't already, create a business page or profile on each of the

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: main social media platforms.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Think about how you want your business to be viewed on these sites.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's important to know what message you're sending and how you're going

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_01]: to send it.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Ask yourself the following questions.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Who is your ideal audience?

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Who are you trying to reach?

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What will your voice sound like across your social networks?

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Will you be to the point, all business or will you have some fun

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: with your social media pages?

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: What are your marketing goals?

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: For example, Facebook to attract more email subscribers.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Twitter to attract more followers.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: LinkedIn to gain more authority in my niche.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Google Plus to drive more awareness.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Three, if you've already started building your social media presence,

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: then try some different tactics to enhance it, like running a campaign

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: on Facebook.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Example, to get more page likes or maybe to get more interactions.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: This will help increase the number of fans and followers you have,

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: giving you a broader social media presence.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Step two, start connecting and nurturing relationships.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Now that you have fans and followers, think about how you can really

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: engage and connect with them.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: One, be open.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: People want to get to know you, trust you, be transparent.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Care about your social networks and they'll care about you.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Post about others and what they're doing.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Create a giveaway or offer a special.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_01]: This will help attract more people to your business.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Plus, who doesn't like giveaways and specials?

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're an online business, offer a free ebook or webinar series

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: to your audience and post about it on your social media sites.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're a brick and mortar business, run a special,
