[00:00:00] Kundenservice kontaktieren?

[00:00:32] How to Curate Your Time for a Better and Simple Work Life by Hilary Barnett with NoSidebar.com
[00:00:40] Balance, Fulfillment, Beauty and Simplicity – all of these things are possible.
[00:00:45] Remember the good old days when you were clocking in and clocking out?
[00:00:48] Wait, those days were definitely not good.
[00:00:51] There's a reason we're now working for ourselves. Amen.
[00:00:54] But there was something about being able to leave the office, close the door and leave work at work.
[00:00:59] As a creative entrepreneur, you're all of a sudden your own CEO.
[00:01:03] And sometimes you make Bill Lumberg look like a pushover.
[00:01:06] You say to yourself, I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday and maybe Sunday too.
[00:01:11] And instead of quitting and telling yourself to shove it, you just keep working.
[00:01:15] You work at all hours of the day and night.
[00:01:17] You wake up at 3am with an idea.
[00:01:20] You brew some coffee and you get started.
[00:01:21] You pull laptop marathons that leave your eyeballs bulging and your fingers aching.
[00:01:25] You get on a roll and you can't quit.
[00:01:28] Working for yourself is a beautiful thing, but burnout can quickly become part of your vocabulary if you don't put some measures in place.
[00:01:35] You have to shut off your work brain or you will begin to replace busyness with progress.
[00:01:40] And then you're simply a hamster on a wheel like you were before you began your business.
[00:01:45] And that is not the goal here, my friends.
[00:01:47] The goal is progress, not busyness.
[00:01:50] The goal is fulfillment, balance, beauty, and simplicity.
[00:01:54] Not becoming another red-necked, puffy-eyed corporate suit who's on the fast track to a triple bypass.
[00:01:59] We are trying to redefine business culture.
[00:02:02] So let's start by changing our own habits.
[00:02:05] Managing time is truly a ridiculous notion.
[00:02:07] You cannot manage time any more than you can manage the wind.
[00:02:10] What you can do is make choices in each moment that have a powerful impact on your outcomes.
[00:02:15] Taking on the role of curator of your own time can make a huge difference.
[00:02:19] Here's the official definition.
[00:02:21] Curator.
[00:02:22] From Latin.
[00:02:23] Cure, meaning take care.
[00:02:26] A curator manages or oversees a collection of tangible items.
[00:02:30] They choose what fits a historically appropriate theme and make sure that the works are collected in the proper place, presented appropriately, guarded, and protected.
[00:02:38] They decide what fits and what doesn't.
[00:02:41] So how do we curate our time?
[00:02:44] Decide the theme for your life.
[00:02:46] If you could pick one word that you would like to describe your year, what would it be?
[00:02:51] What if you have to pick one word to describe your month or your week?
[00:02:54] Whatever the timeframe, choose a theme and stick with it.
[00:02:58] Take some time to assess where you are and where you want to go.
[00:03:01] Listen to what is crying out for attention in your life.
[00:03:04] My theme this year is fearless.
[00:03:06] Fearless.
[00:03:07] I have a close friend who runs an amazing organization called One Word 365.
[00:03:11] Every year, I choose a word.
[00:03:13] The word fearless means I make my decisions about how I spend my time based on a deep sense of trust and being ultimately safe.
[00:03:21] Nothing is decided on fear.
[00:03:23] Not one thing.
[00:03:24] So everything that presents itself to me is filtered through this lens.
[00:03:28] Identify what brings joy and flow.
[00:03:31] Once you choose your theme, identify what fits and brings joy and flow to your life and work.
[00:03:37] Your theme won't stay the same forever, so if it doesn't fit now, it doesn't mean it won't later.
[00:03:41] But for now, curate your moments to fit the theme.
[00:03:44] Allow your theme to guide you and revisit it often to make sure you're being true to it.
[00:03:49] If you feel like things are a bit off, check in with your theme and make adjustments as needed.
[00:03:55] Guard and protect the important.
[00:03:57] Protect what matters with the fierceness of a mama bear protecting her cubs.
[00:04:02] This is your one, precious, finite life, and you get to decide what to do with your time.
[00:04:07] Every invitation, potential client relationship, family time, recreation, and creative endeavor should be filtered through your theme.
[00:04:14] A curated collection is exactly as it should be.
[00:04:17] No more, no less.
[00:04:19] It is beautiful in its simplicity.
[00:04:21] It presents something that was managed with care and deeply reflected upon.
[00:04:26] So let's do an exercise.
[00:04:27] Stand on one foot.
[00:04:29] Now look down.
[00:04:30] What is your standing foot doing?
[00:04:32] Is it still or is it trembling a little, constantly shifting to make sure you stay upright?
[00:04:38] Balance is not coming to some zen-like place of stillness.
[00:04:41] It never was.
[00:04:42] It is constant micro-movements over time that keep you in your sweet spot.
[00:04:47] So start small, keep making adjustments, and stay in your sweet spot.
