[00:00:00] This is Optimal Health Daily, episode 2472.
[00:00:03] What is restrictive eating?
[00:00:05] And the best time to weigh yourself,
[00:00:08] both by Shaleen Johnson of shaleenjohnson.com.
[00:00:11] And I'm Dr. Neil Malek.
[00:00:13] Hey there, happy Monday, and welcome back to Optimal Health Daily,
[00:00:16] where I act as your narrator of the best health and fitness blogs,
[00:00:20] all for free,
[00:00:21] and always with a bit of my commentary at the end.
[00:00:24] And don't forget, we have a bunch of shows covering different topics. arbitrary rule around your food or diet, like, I won't eat anything over 15 grams of carbohydrates, or fruit has too much sugar, or dairy is bad. But here's the caveat. You're not preaching any of this due to how your body is impacted. Nope. You've just convinced yourself of these rules
[00:01:41] because you've read it in someone's book or the newest trendy healthy blog,
[00:01:44] or perhaps you belong to do those things because it's part of your business or your brand, do it from an informed perspective.
[00:03:04] I ask those of you who are health coaches, nutritionists, and personal trainers to have a great tool when it comes to tracking progress. However, the relationship with the number can become an unhealthy one. Regardless of how often or when you weigh yourself, if your relationship with the scale starts to take an unhealthy turn, don't get discouraged. Rather than let that number upset you, know that there are more and less ideal times to weigh yourself.
[00:04:22] It's common to start relating your happiness and even your worth
[00:04:26] to the number that's staring back at you. While you don't want to become obsessed with weighing yourself, you also don't want to get on the scale willy-nilly. If you don't check in periodically, you could find yourself stepping on the scale one day wondering, how did I gain 10 pounds? You need to monitor whether or not there is an upward or downward trend in your weight.
[00:05:40] So, set a time increment.
[00:05:42] Typically once per week works just great.
[00:05:45] But if you do end up you are as a person, not whether or not you can see your abs.
