[00:02:41] Superman, Batman, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern,

[00:02:47] Sure, individually each superhero is incredibly impressive.
[00:02:51] However, each person becomes stronger when combined
[00:02:54] with the unique skills and abilities of their superhero colleagues.
[00:02:58] The Flash is lightning fast, but there might be times
[00:03:01] where he needs help from Batman and his gadgets
[00:03:04] or Superman and his power of flight to save the day.
[00:03:07] As the saying goes,
[00:03:09] the whole can often be greater than the sum of its parts.
[00:03:12] Those in tights and capes are no different.
[00:03:15] I've rambled on about superheroes for a few paragraphs now.
[00:03:19] What for?
[00:03:20] Because I have a simple question for you.
[00:03:23] What are you bringing to the table?
[00:03:26] I want to know what your superpower is.
[00:03:28] Are you a weightlifting fanatic who gladly dishes out advice
[00:03:32] on how to get stronger at squats and deadlifts?
[00:03:34] Maybe you're a hell of a cook
[00:03:36] and your friends always look forward to your next meal together.
[00:03:39] Maybe you're not in the best shape,
[00:03:41] but your powers of persuasion or guilt-tripping are so strong
[00:03:45] that you can organize a fun run at work
[00:03:47] or a weekend hike to the mountains at a moment's notice.
[00:03:51] Or are you the one who shows up late to everything,
[00:03:54] eats poorly and complains about not having enough time?
[00:03:57] Today, you get to decide what your superpower is
[00:04:01] and how it can be used to improve the lives of those around you.
[00:04:05] As Olmec says in Legends of the Hidden Temple,
[00:04:08] yes I just referenced an old Nickelodeon TV show,
[00:04:12] quote, the choice is yours and yours alone, end quote.
[00:04:17] Maybe you haven't quite figured out your superpower yet.
[00:04:20] Luckily, we live in a world where anything is possible,
[00:04:23] so you can decide what you want to have as a superpower
[00:04:26] and then go get it.
[00:04:28] You can even make up your own epic destiny
[00:04:31] as to how you got that power.
[00:04:33] My story? I wanted to become the go-to nerd for fitness, diet and travel advice.
[00:04:39] Sure, I didn't study fitness in school
[00:04:42] and I had never been out of North America,
[00:04:44] but that didn't mean I couldn't acquire these skills
[00:04:47] and get really good at them.
[00:04:49] Batman and Iron Man weren't born with any superpowers either.
[00:04:52] They had to learn and create to become superheroes.
[00:04:55] That's not bad company to be part of.
[00:04:58] Once your superpower is decided,
[00:05:00] do you have your superpower decided?
[00:05:03] Do you know what you want your special ability to be?
[00:05:06] Good. Now use it. Get better at it.
[00:05:09] Read books, spend time on forums,
[00:05:12] test yourself and increase your abilities.
[00:05:15] Want to know what the best and fastest way
[00:05:18] to increase your knowledge and power in a particular skill is?
[00:05:21] Teach somebody else to do it.
[00:05:23] I started nerd fitness with just a passion for fitness
[00:05:26] and not a lot of knowledge.
[00:05:28] As the days, weeks, months and years went on,
[00:05:31] I took readers' questions
[00:05:33] and did my best to learn everything I could about the subject
[00:05:36] they wanted to learn about,
[00:05:38] whether it was barefoot running, diet soda, parkour
[00:05:42] or not sucking at working out,
[00:05:44] I soaked up as much info as possible for multiple sources
[00:05:48] and then presented it to the class.
[00:05:51] I'm still not an expert,
[00:05:53] but I know more than most
[00:05:55] those that are less knowledgeable than me.
[00:05:57] I've learned that my passion for helping people
[00:06:00] with fitness and wellness is equaled only by my desire
[00:06:03] to learn more about fitness and wellness.
[00:06:06] I have become a sponge for knowledge.
[00:06:09] Shut up, being a sponge can be a cool superpower.
[00:06:16] You just listened to the post titled
[00:06:18] How to Create Your Own Superpower
[00:06:20] by Steve Kamm of nerdfitness.com
[00:06:23] and I'll be right back with my commentary.
[00:06:25] We're driven by the search for better,
[00:06:27] but when it comes to hiring,
[00:06:29] the best way to search for a candidate
[00:06:31] isn't to search at all.
[00:06:33] Don't search, match with Indeed.
[00:06:36] Indeed is your matching and hiring platform
[00:06:38] with over 350 million global monthly visitors
[00:06:42] and a matching engine
[00:06:44] that helps you find quality candidates fast.
[00:06:47] Ditch the busy work.
[00:06:49] Use Indeed for scheduling, screening and messaging.
[00:06:52] 93% of employers agree
[00:06:54] Indeed delivers the highest quality matches
[00:06:57] compared to other job sites.
[00:06:59] One of the things I love about Indeed
[00:07:01] is that it filters out incompatible applicants.
[00:07:04] So when you're hiring, the process is much faster
[00:07:07] and you only have to consider applicants
[00:07:09] that are already likely to be a great fit
[00:07:12] and listeners of this show will get a $75
[00:07:15] sponsored job credit
[00:07:17] to get your jobs more visibility

[00:07:35] Need to hire? You need Indeed.
[00:07:49] Dr. Neal here for my commentary.
[00:07:53] In today's article, the author Steve mentioned how becoming
[00:07:56] a sponge of information can be your superpower.
[00:07:59] It's kind of like finding what your passions are
[00:08:02] and following them.
[00:08:03] But I often get asked,
[00:08:05] Dr. Neal, how do I know what my passions are?
[00:08:08] Well, Steve, you're a great writer.
[00:08:11] You're a great writer.
[00:08:13] You're a great writer.
[00:08:15] You're a great writer.
[00:08:17] You're a great writer and you're my passions are.
[00:08:19] Well, Steve actually provided us a great starting point.
[00:08:22] What interests you?
[00:08:24] What are some things that you could read about
[00:08:27] or research for hours,
[00:08:29] where when you're reading, the time just seems to fly by?
[00:08:32] I'll give you an example.
[00:08:34] I didn't immediately know that I was passionate
[00:08:36] about nutrition.
[00:08:37] In fact, someone had to point that out to me.
[00:08:40] I would read nutrition textbooks for fun
[00:08:42] before going to bed at night.
[00:08:44] when someone asked me as part of a polite conversation,
[00:08:47] hey have you read any interesting books lately?
[00:08:49] And I responded with,
[00:08:51] well I'm reading a nutrition textbook and it's pretty fascinating.
[00:08:55] They said, oh are you studying nutrition in school?
[00:08:59] And I said, no I just like reading this stuff.
[00:09:03] They then responded with, huh maybe you should think about getting a nutrition degree
[00:09:07] since you seem to be passionate about it.
[00:09:10] That's when the light bulb went on.
[00:09:12] So ask yourself, what am I curious about?
[00:09:16] What could I read and research for hours because it's so interesting to me?
[00:09:20] Then see if you can get paid to do it.
[00:09:24] Alright that'll do it for today.
[00:09:25] I hope you have a great rest of your day
[00:09:27] and I'll see you back here on tomorrow's show where your optimal life awaits.
