[00:00:00] This is Optimal Living Daily, Episode 3154, Five Reasons Why You're Not Achieving Success

[00:00:07] and How to Overcome Them by Brian Tracey of bryantraci.com and your narrator Justin Malik

[00:00:13] reading you blogs every single day of the year including holidays.

[00:00:17] Without further ado let's get right to it as we optimize your life.

[00:00:25] Five reasons why you're not achieving success and how to overcome them by Brian Tracey of bryantraci.com

[00:00:33] We've all been there feeling like you aren't achieving success.

[00:00:37] The most common reason many people do not achieve success is that we have not defined

[00:00:41] what success looks like to us. In order to get to where you want to be,

[00:00:46] you must determine your end point and work backward to outline the step from that point

[00:00:51] to where you are now. This is why goal setting is so important.

[00:00:56] Why goal setting is important. Setting goals gives you both long term vision and short

[00:01:01] term vision. Throughout my years I have found a few common reasons why people do not achieve

[00:01:06] success and almost all of these struggles occur because they are not seeing goal

[00:01:11] setting as a solution. Are you trying to reach something and not setting a goal?

[00:01:16] Keep listening for the reasons why you're likely not achieving success

[00:01:19] and how to overcome them. Five reasons you're not achieving success.

[00:01:24] We've all been there feeling fired up to work toward our goals but then

[00:01:28] failing along the way. Not achieving a goal can be discouraging and might deter us from

[00:01:32] setting other meaningful goals. Instead of feeling discouraged when I don't immediately

[00:01:37] reach a goal however, I take some time and reflect on why I didn't meet that goal

[00:01:41] so I can learn and grow from the overall experience. Smart goal setting is the best

[00:01:47] way to ensure we reach our goals and there are a few easy steps we can take to set better goals

[00:01:52] and then meet them. Here are five reasons you might not be achieving your goals and the best

[00:01:57] ways to fix those problems. Number one, your goals are too vague. Many times people

[00:02:03] set goals that are too vague. You might think I'd like to get in shape or it'd really be great

[00:02:09] to have more money in my savings account. Ensure it would be great but unless you

[00:02:13] outline your goals more specifically, you're probably not going to reach them.

[00:02:18] Specific goals are helpful because when you spell out exactly what you want to do,

[00:02:22] it's easier to envision yourself doing it and then to actually go through the motions.

[00:02:27] Instead of saying I want to get in shape try saying I'm going to work out three days a week

[00:02:33] and stop drinking soda. Just like that your goal has transformed from something vague that you'd

[00:02:38] like to do into something concrete and specific that you're going to do. Number two, you're not

[00:02:44] quantifying your goals. A common mistake when it comes to goal setting is that your goals aren't

[00:02:50] measurable. Can you evaluate your goal and measure your progress? If not, it's probably a good idea

[00:02:55] to revisit and tweak your original goal. For example, if you were to say my goal is to

[00:03:00] save more money, that's difficult to measure. What does more mean? That goal could be interpreted

[00:03:06] in many different ways and I might pat myself on the back for saving $10 when really $10 can't buy

[00:03:12] very much at all. But if I were to say that my goal is to save $5,000 by this summer, it's easy

[00:03:18] to track that progress. I can regularly check my bank account to see how close I am to that $5,000

[00:03:24] mark and along the way I stay motivated because I see how close I'm getting to that goal. I

[00:03:30] urge you to do the same. Number three, you're setting unattainable goals. Setting goals is

[00:03:37] exciting. You might have grand plans such as becoming a millionaire or building your dream house,

[00:03:42] but if you set the bar too high, you're not going to reach your goals and you'll feel

[00:03:46] disappointed in yourself and burned out. An easy way to combat this is by setting goals

[00:03:51] that are achievable. For instance, let's say I want to build that dream house saying

[00:03:57] I want to build a new house for my family in the next six months is most likely not an achievable

[00:04:02] goal. Building a house takes time so more realistic goal might be I'm going to find a contractor and

[00:04:08] make a budget. Once I've achieved that goal, I can think about the rest of the process and decide

[00:04:14] what the next realistic goal might be. Do you see the difference? Number four, you're setting

[00:04:20] goals that are irrelevant to your life. Sure, you might like the idea of moving to New York

[00:04:25] City or the Caribbean, but is that goal actually relevant to your life? Achieving that goal may be

[00:04:31] fun, but if it doesn't move you further down the road on your overall plan for your life,

[00:04:36] it wasn't really worth it. That's why I always make sure my goals aren't a waste of my time.

[00:04:42] Each goal should have a purpose behind it to help make it relevant. Instead of moving to

[00:04:46] the Caribbean just because the blue water looks pretty, a better goal might be I want to move to

[00:04:52] city because there are so many opportunities there for jobs in my industry. When setting goals,

[00:04:57] I always ensure it is relevant to my life. Number five, you're not adding a time frame

[00:05:04] requirement. Adding a deadline to each goal you set is essential. When you add a deadline

[00:05:10] to your goals, you'll be much more motivated to work towards them and ensure you reach them

[00:05:14] before the time period is up. What does this look like? It's simple. Instead of saying,

[00:05:20] I want to hire two more employees for my company. Say, I want to hire two more employees for my

[00:05:25] company within three months. Then you'll be more motivated to pursue and reach that goal.

[00:05:31] To ensure I reach the goals, I give myself realistic time frames. These help me keep

[00:05:36] my goals aligned and within reach. You just listened to the post titled

[00:05:45] Five Reasons Why You're Not Achieving Success and How to Overcome Them by Brian Tracy of

[00:05:51] bryantracie.com and I'll be right back with my commentary. Being in control of my health means

[00:05:56] being super mindful of what I put in my body, from food to supplements. I'm always trying

[00:06:01] to find the best option out there, which is why I am so excited to tell you all about Thorn.

[00:06:06] With Thorn, I never have to question what's in each supplement because they go the extra

[00:06:11] mile when it comes to quality, manufacturing and ingredients. In fact, they use such thorough

[00:06:17] testing and a super clean manufacturing process. They've earned some of the highest certifications

[00:06:22] in the industry. I even looked them up myself on a third party lab testing site because

[00:06:26] I'm super careful. And after reading the reviews for their GI relief supplement,

[00:06:31] I tried it myself. And so far, it's working wonders. Give your body what it really needs

[00:06:37] with Thorn. Go to thorn.fit.optimal and use code optimal for 10% off your first order.

[00:06:44] That's T-H-O-R-N-E.F-I-T slash optimal, code optimal for 10% off your first order.

[00:06:51] Thorn.fit slash optimal, code optimal. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food

[00:06:57] and Drug Administration. This product is not limited to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

[00:07:03] Thank you to Brian. If you've been listening for a while or not new to personal development

[00:07:08] articles, SMART goals should sound familiar. SMART spells out S for specific, M measurable,

[00:07:18] A achievable, R relevant and T time bound. It's a classic system for making sure you're

[00:07:25] setting the right goals. All of those are important. And that's why it comes up so

[00:07:30] frequently when we talk about goals here and on my brother's podcast, Optimal Health Daily.

[00:07:37] If there are any goals that you've set recently, definitely check them and see if you're missing

[00:07:42] one of those factors. You're much more likely to succeed if you pass your goals through that

[00:07:47] filter and then also write your goals down. So do check those goals today and this weekend.

[00:07:53] Thank you for being here and listening even on the weekends. I really appreciate you being

[00:07:57] here every day and listening. I cannot keep doing this podcast without you. And that goes for all

[00:08:02] the shows in the Optimal Living Daily Podcast Network. You're the reason we all have jobs.

[00:08:08] So thank you and a special extra thank you if you've ever shared this show with someone.

[00:08:13] That also goes a long way to keep this going. Have a great rest of your weekend and I'll

[00:08:18] catch you tomorrow for our usual minimalist Monday. So see you there where your optimal life

[00:08:23] awaits.
