[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and Renarader Justin Malik reading you articles every single day of the year, the best ones

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I can find and get permission from, all to help us both get a little bit more positivity,

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: inspiration and motivation into our day.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Now we need to get right to today's post as we optimize your life.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: What is true success? By J.Money of BudgetsAreSexy.com

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: When I was a kid, I thought I was the man if I could tie my own shoes. In high school,

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought I was the man if I could get a rad and beautiful girlfriend. And in California,

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: being rad was where it was at, let me tell you. In college, it was the highest GPA.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And more importantly, the person who could throw the best parties. And after that, it

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: was the best jobs, coolest things and eventually the most money. Somewhere along that track,

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I wised up and realized none of those things actually define true success. But boy, did

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: it take a while. And boy is everyone around us still chasing them. If you signed up

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: to some of those newsletters I read every morning, you might know exactly where I'm

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: going with this. The following excerpt was in a recent Thought of the Day by Napoleon Hill.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Quote,

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever your faith may be, a good rule of everyday behavior is to live your life so that

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: when it is over, you can take pride in the knowledge that you have made a difference in

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: the lives of those who have known you. It's easy in the crush of everyday life to lose

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: sight of the true riches of life, the things that really matter. Psychologist Alonitoban

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_00]: defines true success as giving and receiving love, having physical and mental health, enough

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: wealth to provide you with options, and the time to enjoy them all. End quote.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Love, health, wealth, and time? Now that's a definition of success. With the last part

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: being one of the most important and which we only have certain control over, like how

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: we spend and plan our time on the days we're blessed to be alive on this great earth. Notice

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_00]: there was also a nice mention of money in there but with words like enough and options close by.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: That's really the whole point of it all, isn't it? To have enough money so you don't even need

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: to think about it? And how perfect it fits in despite the whole message being rather spiritual,

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: too. Let's dive into these sections even more. Number one, giving and receiving love,

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: the first mentioned and rightfully so. I don't know anyone who hates being loved,

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: even if they don't show it, and it's something to step back and remind ourselves of, especially as

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: we're prone to chase money around each corner. If I had a wallet, I'd put a picture of my two

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: precious boys in it to remind me of this every time I open it up. If anyone embodies giving

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and receiving love, it's them, except for when we say no to candy, yikes. Number two,

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: having physical and mental health. Also a very important area, can't enjoy life much without

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: a working body or brain. Now if only the two would combine forces better and get us to exercise more.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Ugh, how can such relatively smart people understand how important eating and staying

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: healthy is but still make it a last priority in their daily lives? And by

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I need a health coach just as bad as some of y'all need a money coach. It's just so boring.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I need you health nuts to please start blogs so I can get motivated over here.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Number three, enough wealth to provide you with options. The whole reason we're here,

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: for the freedom to choose how we spend our lives, right? Notice it doesn't say anything about

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: needing a million dollars or to be rich beyond belief either. It says enough, which can be interpreted

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: a number of different ways depending on who you ask but at the end of the day,

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: it's the goal we should all be striving for and to then have the smarts to know when we've

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_00]: hit enough too. And lastly, number four, the time to enjoy them all. The best line of

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: the whole passage, everything comes down to time. And I think that's the scariest part about this money

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: stuff, that we won't make it to the other side to be able to enjoy all the freedom it brings.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: The exact fear people around us harness to justify spending it all now because you never

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_00]: know what tomorrow will bring. Which is of course true, however, odds are very much in our

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: favor that we'll be living quite a long time on this beautiful earth of ours. So just like

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: everything else in our lives, it's always a balancing act. We neither extreme can send you

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: down a pretty tumultuous path. Look at me using big words. Which means we need to be doing the

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_00]: following two things. Number one, making sure to appreciate our lives in the here and now

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and not obsessing about all our goals all the time, though of course I'm borned.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And number two, continuing to lower how much it costs us to live so we can shrink the

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_00]: time to ultimate freedom. Because as we all know, the higher your lifestyle, the longer you'll

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: need to keep working to sustain it. This is the exact reason behind early retirement of course.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not that you don't want to work anymore and be a complete bum, although you could if

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: you wanted to. It's to be able to enjoy life fully and take advantage of all that loving

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and physical and mental health, as well as your money you've so diligently accrued over

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_00]: your lifetime. And the earlier you hit it, the more time you have to enjoy it.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So how do we do all this without killing ourselves in the process? Well that's the tricky part.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And the reason we're all here on money blogs and trying to get better at it, myself included.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I go in phases of hustling my ass off and taking long breaks, but throughout there always has

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_00]: to be the reminder of the why to keep us pushing forward. And it's very much possible

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: that it's all in the journey, as they say. I can tell you more definitively when I reach the other

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: side. At any rate, I thought that was one of the best definitions of true success that I had seen

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and wanted to pass it over to you. Giving and receiving love, having physical and mental health,

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: enough wealth to provide you with options, and a time to enjoy them all. You just listened

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: to the post titled, What is True Success? By J.MoneyOfBudgetsRsexy.com and I'll be right back

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_00]: with my commentary. Look around. Smartwatches, Wi-Fi enabled LED bulbs. It's no secret that the

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: can check out that show for more from him. Success is really a tough thing to define

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: because it truly is different for every person, although the quote from Napoleon Hill is

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: probably a fair one and something we agree on. But still, for some, maybe having a college degree

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: might mean being successful, whereas for others it might be having their own business. And for

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: someone else it could be a certain amount of money or net worth. Or maybe just being happy

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_00]: most of the time. Everyone has their own view of what success is, and who's to say that

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: one opinion is more correct than another. We can't really, so we might as well ignore the

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_00]: quote-unquote success of others instead of seeing their pictures or videos on social media and

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: thinking that that's what we want. And one other thing I'll say is that we often look

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: to having a certain amount of money or reaching retirement. But everyone I know who's retired

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_00]: whether at a later age or by doing early retirement, they're not just lounging around.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: They want to work in some way, contributing to something, and staying busy most of the time

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_00]: because without that we can feel a bit lost. So imagining success as retirement and not having

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: anything to do is probably not what we truly want. Just a little food for thought. But I'll

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: leave it there for today. I hope you have a great rest of your day and I'll see you tomorrow

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_00]: where your optimal life awaits.
