[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: How To Remain Calm Under Pressure and Overcome Problems In 9 Steps by Brian Tracy of bryantracie.com

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: When times get tough and you're faced with any of life's complicated problems,

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: it can be hard to stay motivated.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: How do you stay motivated and keep your cool when things are going badly around you?

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Here are some tips on how to stay positive and motivated

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: when times get tough and you face problems.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Number one, don't blame others.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: To be your own turnaround specialist to take complete control over your life in a crisis,

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the first thing you must do is to accept 100% responsibility for yourself

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and for everything that happens from this minute forward.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Accept responsibility and take charge.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You especially must keep yourself positive and focused.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: You do this by reminding yourself and repeating these words.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I am responsible, I am responsible, I am responsible.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Above all, refuse to blame anyone for anything.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Anger and negative emotions of all kinds are dependent upon blame

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_00]: for their very existence.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: As soon as you stop blaming other people for what has happened

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and take responsibility for the future, your negative emotion sees,

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: your mind becomes calm and clear, and you begin to make better decisions.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Number two, how to remain calm under pressure.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: The starting point of staying calm under pressure is for you to refuse to react

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: automatically and unthinkingly.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Instead, take a deep breath to calm your mind and then think carefully

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_00]: about your next words and actions.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Imagine that everyone is watching.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Imagine that this situation is a test to see what you're truly made of.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Imagine that everyone is waiting to see how you'll respond.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Resolve to set a good example, be a role model for others,

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and to demonstrate the correct way to deal with a major problem

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: as if you were giving a lesson.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Number three, get the facts.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Instead of overreacting, keep yourself calm by asking questions of the other people involved.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Listen patiently to the answers as you use your problem-solving skills to find a solution.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: If there is a solution, your job is to find it by fully understanding

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_00]: what has happened before you respond.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Number four, ask questions.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Ask key questions and listen carefully to the answers.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's some that will help you get at the facts.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_00]: What is the situation exactly?

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_00]: What has happened?

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_00]: How did it happen?

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: When did it happen?

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Where did it happen?

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What are the facts?

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_00]: How do we know that these facts are accurate?

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Who was involved?

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Who was responsible for doing or not doing certain things?

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: The very act of asking questions and gathering facts keeps you calm

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and increases your courage and confidence.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: The more facts you have, the stronger and more capable you will feel

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: about making good decisions to solve the problem and get through the crunch.

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Number five, write it down.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Begin by asking what exactly is the problem?

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're working by yourself, write down a clear statement of the problem on a piece of paper.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: We find that if you can get the problem down on paper, it starts to solve itself.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Then write down what all of the possible solutions are to the problem.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You'll find that when you write out your problem and solutions,

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you'll be able to identify the best way to solve it quickly.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: You may not seem like a problem at all after you write it down.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Number six, try something different.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: By trying something different or taking a different approach to solving a problem,

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: you may find a new, more beneficial way to go about things.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: When something fails, taking a different approach and solving what went wrong the

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: first time will help you improve over the long run.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It might also help to take a break from solving the problem altogether.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I find that motivational quotes and inspirational images can recharge my energy,

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: which allows me to return to the problem at hand with full vigor.

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Number seven, communicate with others.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes talking over the problem with a spouse or a trusted friend will help immensely

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: to keep you calm and controlled.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Go for a long walk and review the situation, examining it from every angle,

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: seeking a possible solution.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Remain optimistic no matter what is going on.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Look for something good in the problem or situation.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Very often, what appears to be a major setback is an opportunity in disguise.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: The complete failure of a project, process, or business venture may be exactly what you need

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: because it may compel you to channel your time and resources in another direction.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Number eight, make a decision.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: No matter what happens, seek the valuable lesson in every difficulty and setback.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Within every problem you face, there is the seed of an equal or greater benefit or advantage.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: When you discipline yourself to look for the good in the situation

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and to seek the valuable lessons that the situation or crisis might contain,

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: you automatically remain calm, positive, and optimistic.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: As a result, all the powers of your wonderful mind remain available to you

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: to solve the problem or resolve the crisis.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And number nine, get busy solving the problem.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Get so busy taking action, solving the problem, and bringing about a solution that

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: you don't have to worry or think about the problem anymore.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: The only real antidote to worry is purposeful action in the direction of your goals.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Instead of becoming upset or doubting yourself and your abilities,

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: decide to take action, any action, to resolve the difficulty and get yourself through the crunch.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Remind yourself that problems come not to obstruct, but to instruct.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Conclusion

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: When times get tough and you're faced with any of life's complicated problems,

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_00]: stay motivated knowing that using this technique,

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: you can recognize and develop strategies to solve any problem.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You just listened to the post titled,

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_00]: How to Remain Calm Under Pressure and Overcome Problems in Nine Steps

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_00]: by Brian Tracy of bryantracy.com.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'll be right back with my commentary.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you to Brian.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: This could definitely be one of those easier said than done things,

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: because when we're actually in those moments of pressure or dealing with problems,

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_00]: it can be hard to become clear-headed enough to remember to try some of these steps.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: But that said, I do think there are some good points that I think we can all use and think about.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Like for me, not blaming others, it's a good reminder.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_00]: It's so easy to point fingers when things go wrong, but

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_00]: every time I've caught myself doing that, it's never made me feel better.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: If anything, it just made me feel more stuck.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And as for staying calm under pressure, I pretty much always seem calm on the outside.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_00]: People think I am, but on the inside, there could be a lot going on.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a tough one, staying calm.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember when I first started this podcast, there were times when things would go wrong.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the audio wasn't great or it got messed up, or I'd be recording last minute,

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd flub my words, and it could be really frustrating.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: But over time, I've learned to take that deep breath just like the article says.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing how much difference a few seconds of pause can make.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think the biggest takeaway for me is that last point,

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_00]: just getting busy solving the problem, doing things.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: It reminds me of what I learned in the book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Basically he said, staying busy is the antidote to anxiety.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: When we're just sitting there worrying, that's when things start to feel really

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: overwhelming.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: But when we start doing something productive, really anything,

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: suddenly we feel a bit more in control and things don't seem as bad.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So something to think about today and this weekend,

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: hope you're having a great start to your weekend.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for being here and an extra thank you if you've ever shared this show with someone

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_00]: that goes a really long way to keep this going.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Have a great rest of your day and I'll see you over the weekend,

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: where your optimal life awaits.
