[00:00:18] 3 Ways to Become Crazy Productive by Adi Redzic of LetsLevelUp.me
[00:00:25] Are you overwhelmed by everything you feel you have to accomplish in your day?
[00:00:29] Does it seem like no matter what or how much you get done, your to-do list just keeps growing, much like your inbox?
[00:00:37] In today's always-on and go-go-go culture, it can seem like no matter what you do,
[00:00:43] there's always something else to check off your list, and when you don't, you may feel like you failed.
[00:00:49] When you have a lot on your plate, your instinct might be to just run faster.
[00:00:54] Whoever taught you that was wrong because that only leads to burnout.
[00:00:58] Thankfully, there's a better way.
[00:01:01] Here are three simple and easy hacks that you can start using immediately to increase your productivity and gain back your peace of mind.
[00:01:09] Number one, focus on getting the important stuff done.
[00:01:14] Your days may be filled with lots of tasks that could or should get done.
[00:01:19] And by could, I mean that somebody could accomplish that task.
[00:01:23] However, that somebody doesn't always have to be you.
[00:01:27] In fact, it probably shouldn't be you.
[00:01:29] It all comes down to this.
[00:01:32] Prioritize.
[00:01:33] Not every task holds the same weight.
[00:01:36] Every day, pick the three to five most important things you have to get done, and don't worry about the rest.
[00:01:43] Important is not the same as urgent.
[00:01:46] A lot of things may feel urgent, but they're not important.
[00:01:50] Focus on what will matter the most in the long run.
[00:01:54] Individuals who are on the top of their game understand this.
[00:01:57] President Eisenhower used to say, if it's urgent, it probably isn't important.
[00:02:03] It may seem paradoxical because it is, but when you focus on less, you actually achieve more.
[00:02:09] When you're not overwhelmed with 50 tasks, you'll be able to clear the important three much faster,
[00:02:15] and they'll give you the energy, the motivation, and the time to go after the next three.
[00:02:21] Number two, declutter your mind in the morning.
[00:02:26] Like most people, you probably wake up and immediately your brain starts racing.
[00:02:31] Maybe you can't help but think about the argument you had with your friend the day before,
[00:02:35] or worry about the meeting you have that day.
[00:02:37] And this is natural.
[00:02:39] While you were sleeping, your mind wasn't.
[00:02:42] It was processing information.
[00:02:44] How you manage these random and pestering thoughts will make all the difference in whether you run the day,
[00:02:50] or the day runs you.
[00:02:52] An easy way to prevent these mental distractions from getting in your way
[00:02:56] is to write them all out, unfiltered.
[00:02:59] You don't need to structure these thoughts.
[00:03:02] Just write whatever is on your mind, however random, and run with it.
[00:03:05] Do this for about three pages soon after you wake up.
[00:03:09] I do it every morning with coffee or when I'm overwhelmed.
[00:03:13] And this practice serves as a brain valve, a release of all the unnecessary thoughts,
[00:03:20] so that you can clearly focus on the important ones.
[00:03:23] Pushing these thoughts down or ignoring them can limit your ability to focus and remain balanced throughout the day.
[00:03:30] And number three,
[00:03:31] get clear on your goals.
[00:03:34] Your goals are the benchmarks in the pursuit of your vision.
[00:03:38] They're also, or should be, the expressions of your inner purpose.
[00:03:42] As such, if they're real and authentic to you,
[00:03:46] they'll fuel your motivation to keep going when the going gets tough.
[00:03:50] They can also have a powerful impact on your productivity because they instantly answer the question,
[00:03:55] will this task matter a month from now?
[00:03:59] Five months from now?
[00:04:00] A year from now?
[00:04:02] Without clear goals, you won't be able to tell which tasks will push the needle forward the most.
[00:04:07] This ties back to prioritizing the important activities over all others.
[00:04:12] So what are your goals?
[00:04:14] Once you're clear on this, every day ask yourself,
[00:04:17] does this task match my goals and will it help me achieve them?
[00:04:22] If the answer is no, scrap it or push it down the list.
[00:04:26] If the answer is yes, then make sure you get it done.
[00:04:30] This isn't to say that every task will be directly tied to your goals,
[00:04:34] but the important ones need to be.
[00:04:36] Otherwise, you'll be a hamster in a wheel.
[00:04:39] What's most important to remember here is that it's impossible to get everything done,
[00:04:43] and quite frankly, you'll soon realize that you won't want to anyway.
[00:04:48] Being productive is simpler than it seems.
[00:04:51] So let's summarize.
[00:04:53] One, spend less of your time doing more,
[00:04:56] especially if more of what you're doing is not in alignment with your priorities and goals.
[00:05:01] Always focus on your most important tasks and what will matter the most in the long run.
[00:05:07] Two, how you handle distractions can make or break your productivity.
[00:05:13] Declutting your mind in the morning is a great way to eliminate one of your biggest distractions when working,
[00:05:18] your random subconscious thoughts.
[00:05:21] Lastly, three, being busy isn't the same as being productive.
[00:05:26] It may give you a feeling of accomplishment, but not the accomplishment itself.
[00:05:31] What do you prefer? A busy life or a life of accomplishment?
[00:05:35] You just listened to the post titled,
[00:05:42] Three Ways to Become Crazy Productive by Adi Redzik of Let's Level Up.me.
[00:05:47] And I'll be right back with my commentary.
[00:05:50] Thank you to Adi.
[00:05:52] Urgent versus important is a great way to sort of categorize your tasks.
[00:05:58] If you're a visual person, you can even put this into a grid.
[00:06:01] At the top, you'd put urgent and then next to it, not urgent.
[00:06:07] Then down the left side of this page, you can write important and not important.
[00:06:12] And that gives you four boxes where you can categorize each task.
[00:06:16] Stuff that is urgent and important.
[00:06:18] That's basically crisis mode and things that you should just get done first thing as soon as possible.
[00:06:24] But I'm sure there are a bunch of things on our list that are both not urgent and not important that keep staying on there.
[00:06:31] And those we can call distractions.
[00:06:34] Even the urgent stuff that is not important is a bit of a distraction.
[00:06:38] More like an interruption.
[00:06:40] And shouldn't be prioritized.
[00:06:42] And again, there are probably a bunch of tasks that fit into these not important categories.
[00:06:48] It's definitely something to look into, a good, quick idea for this weekend.
[00:06:52] But I'll leave it there for now.
[00:06:54] Thank you for listening every day.
[00:06:55] Have a great weekend if you're listening in real time.
[00:06:58] And I'll see you tomorrow as usual, where your optimal life awaits.
