Your feet already keep a steady beat, but your breathing rarely follows it. This 10-minute walking meditation teaches you to match one to the other, counting your breath against your stride until the two lock together. It is the simplest way to steady yourself, and once you have it you can use it anywhere you walk.
Safety note: Keep your eyes open and stay aware of your surroundings. Your safety always comes first. Follow the audio only as far as it's safe to do so.
What you'll explore:
- How to count your steps against an inhale and an exhale without forcing the pace.
- What a longer exhale does to a keyed-up nervous system.
- Why a rhythm you can feel in your feet is easier to hold than one you only think about.
How to get the most out of this walk:
- Start on flat ground, since hills change your breathing before you can settle the pattern.
- If the count slips, pick it back up at the next step rather than starting the walk over.
Step Into Calm is a daily walking meditation podcast where each episode is a short guided meditation to help you build mindfulness, ease stress, and find calm, clarity, and focus in just 10 to 15 minutes a day.
