[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: This is Optimal Living Daily, episode 2924 How to Become Your Most Authentic Self, Part 2

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_00]: by The Barefoot Minimalists of BarefootMinimalist.com and I'm Justin Malik.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back or welcome for the first time if you're new here.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: This is where I read to you like a big ongoing audiobook from many different authors,

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: but today being a continuation from yesterday so recommend listening to yesterday's episode first.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: But if you're all caught up let's get right to part two and continue optimizing your life.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: How to Become Your Most Authentic Self, Part 2 by The Barefoot Minimalists of BarefootMinimalist.com

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Number six, notice who you become when you're sad, tired, angry, stressed or anxious.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Noticing who you become when you're sad, tired, angry, stressed or anxious is crucial to developing

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: authenticity because it reveals how you respond to challenging situations and emotions. It's

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: easy to feel authentic when everything is going well. However, in order to be truly authentic

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: you need to be proud of the person you are in all moments including the difficult ones.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Notice who you become when you're stressed at work or feeling tired. Do you lash out at people

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: in a way that doesn't align with your values? Do you say things you don't truly mean?

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: These moments of vulnerability provide opportunities for self-reflection and growth.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Developing authenticity means being aware of your reactions and behaviors

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: in challenging times. It's about striving to respond with integrity, empathy and kindness

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: even when you're not at your best. It's about staying true to your core values and principles

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: even when it's challenging. Number seven, learn to say no. Learning to say no is a vital

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: component of developing authenticity especially when you find yourself in uncomfortable

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: situations. It's your way of saying this is who I am and I won't compromise my authenticity.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: By saying no to what doesn't resonate with you, you prioritize your own needs and values

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: fostering a stronger sense of self. Plus through the practice of saying no,

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_00]: you learn more about yourself, your likes and dislikes. You also create space for genuine

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: experiences and interactions that reflect who you truly are. Number eight, align actions with

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: your values. Developing authenticity requires you to live in alignment with your values. It means

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: making choices and taking actions that are consistent with what you believe is important

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and meaningful. Aligning your actions with your values is a powerful way to bridge the gap

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: between who you are and who you want to become. Number nine, find value in your work.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_00]: When you find value and purpose in the work you do, it becomes an expression of your authentic self.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Your work doesn't have to be groundbreaking to feel valuable to you either. Let's talk about

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: serving tables for instance, something I did for years. Although serving tables might not seem

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: like the most meaningful job in the world, I was able to find value in it. When I was serving,

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I would try and get to know my customers as best I could. Many of them would come into the

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: restaurant to celebrate a birthday and accomplishment or to spend time with the people they love.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I had the power to shape their experience. I could give them a positive, memorable experience

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: or a negative one depending on my attitude. By framing my job in this way, I felt like

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: my job aligned with my values and brought me a sense of authenticity. I invite you to think

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_00]: about the value your job brings to you, to your community, or to the world.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And number 10, spend time alone. The best way to understand who you truly are is to spend

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: time alone. It's an opportunity to disconnect from the external noise and reconnect with

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_00]: your inner voice. It's a chance to develop your own opinions about the world around you

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: without the input of others. There's a reason why solo travel is such a life changing

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: experience for so many people. For many, it's their first time venturing out into the world alone.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: It's their first time noticing how they interact with the world around them without a friend,

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_00]: family member or significant other around. This can be an incredibly eye-opening experience.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: But you don't have to travel across the country to discover your authentic self.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Even simple acts of spending time alone like taking yourself out on a solo movie or dinner

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: date can lead to profound self-discovery. In conclusion, so there you have it,

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: 10 actionable ways to develop authenticity in your life. By integrating these practices into your life,

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: you can work towards becoming your most authentic self. You just listened to part

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_00]: two of the post titled, How To Become Your Most Authentic Self by The Barefoot Minimalists

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: code OLD. Thank you again to the Barefoot Minimalists. Like I said yesterday,

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: some of these are more difficult and require more thoughts and mindfulness than others.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_00]: One that I especially liked today was the server example. A server does affect a lot of people,

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: not even just the customers but also their boss or bosses, and their customer circles too.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It's going a bit deeper but I think it's true. If a server is having a terrible day

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and rubs that off on you or me, it could ruin our day, especially if that meal was supposed to be

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_00]: extra memorable or special in some way. Imagine that one server ruined it. That then ruins our day,

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: which then likely affects everyone we come across. It's a chain reaction, one of the

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: reasons this podcast exists in the hope that by listening every day you get a little bit of

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: positivity to remember that we'll hopefully have a chain reaction of positivity on others too.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_00]: No matter your job or even if you don't have one, it's not just about some big purpose. Just

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_00]: finding some value in it could go a long way. So thank you again to the Barefoot Minimalists

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_00]: for this one. Thank you for being on the journey with me and for subscribing or

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_00]: following and sharing the show with others. That helps a ton and hopefully spreads the

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_00]: positivity. Have a great rest of your day and I'll see you tomorrow. Wear your optimal life. I wait.
