I’m “self-insured” on most purchases, so I usually decline to buy a store warranty for a new product that I’m buying at a store. There was one notable exception. I was persuaded to buy insurance for an electric pencil sharpener for my classroom. The store clerk estimated that I could invoke the warranty about three times during the three year period…and he was correct! (Classroom pencil sharpeners usually need to be replaced frequently. Students try to sharpen a lot of things that aren’t pencils.) I got about $75 worth of sharpeners for the original $25 purchase plus an $8 warranty. Thanks, clerk!
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing that!
